Need more interracial romance recs after finishing The Kiss Quotient

I finally picked up The Kiss Quotient after seeing it all over BookTok and honestly I finished it in like two nights. I live in Chicago and there’s something about reading a romance where the characters actually feel like people I’d run into on the train or at a coffee shop on Milwaukee Ave. It wasn’t just the chemistry, it was the way the relationship built up slow without feeling cheesy. Now I’m in that annoying phase where nothing else sounds good because I keep comparing every book to it. I’m looking for more interracial romance books that have that same mix of sweet and a little steamy, but not super over-the-top. I’m open to pretty much any pairing. Bonus if the book has good banter and the characters have actual lives outside each other. Anyone have favorites I should add to my Kindle? I’ve already seen people mention The Brown Sisters books but I haven’t started them yet.

I’m gonna second Jasmine Guillory, especially if you like that real-life vibe. Her books feel like people who text back late, have busy jobs, and still somehow make time for romance. I read one while waiting around in a dentist office in Queens and ended up missing my name being called because I was too into it. If you want something a little different, try Sonali Dev. Her stories are more emotional and family-heavy, but the relationships feel really grounded. Not every bookTok rec works for me, but those usually do.

If you liked The Kiss Quotient, I think you’d probably enjoy Helen Hoang’s other stuff for sure, but also check out Jasmine Guillory. I read The Wedding Date on a flight from Atlanta to Newark and it was exactly the kind of easy, fun read I needed. The characters felt modern without trying too hard, if that makes sense. Also, don’t sleep on Talia Hibbert. Her books are funny in a way that actually made me laugh out loud, which almost never happens for me. I’d say start with Act Your Age, Eve Brown if you want something warm and flirty.
