Met a girl on BLK and now I’m lowkey confused but also obsessed lol
So I matched with this girl on BLK last week and we’ve been talking non-stop since. I’m in Philly, she’s in Atlanta, but somehow the vibe has been way better than the usual dry app convos I get. She’s super into BNWO content, sends memes all day, and keeps making jokes about “black queens running the future” type stuff. I’m not gonna lie, it’s kinda hot and also a little intimidating because she’s way more confident about it than I am.
I’ve always been into interracial dating, but this is the first time I’ve talked to someone who’s really active in the BNWO community online. I’m trying to figure out if I should lean into it more or just be myself and not overthink it. Anyone else dated someone from this space and had to get used to the culture/shorthand/memes? I don’t wanna come off fake, but I also don’t wanna act clueless either.

Keisha L.Honestly just be real with her. If she’s already joking around and sending memes, she probably likes that you’re not trying too hard. I met my girl off BLK too, I’m in Houston and she’s in Charlotte, and the BNWO stuff was way more intense online than it was in actual dating. Real life is still just real life — talking, flirting, seeing if y’all click.
If you’re unsure about the culture, just ask her what stuff means instead of pretending you know. Most people respect that way more than fake confidence.

James T.I’d say enjoy the vibe but don’t make the whole thing about the label. I dated a woman from Jersey who was deep in the meme side of it, and half the fun was learning what she was into without acting weird about it. We’d send each other TikToks and Twitter clips, then go from there.
Also, if she’s giving you a lot of confidence, that’s a good sign. Just keep the convo balanced and don’t turn into a yes-man. People can tell when you’re trying to perform for them.
